About
Stephen McGrath is a multidisciplinary artist based in London. His work investigates the situations, relationships and environments that make our surroundings. Stephen’s art is largely influenced by the idea of place, both physical and spiritual, a central part of his architectural background. Stephen uses a series of projects to look at some of our qualities such as frailty, power, playfullness, our intangibility, and ways of representing ourselves.
Stephen works with a varied media including watercolour, acrylic, oils, intaglio etching, photography, laser printing, transferring, hand drawing, digital drawing and various types of digital painting. His art is formalised using hand painted canvas, traditional printing and original archival digital printing processes.
Bio
Stephen studied architecture at Plymouth University from 1986 to 1992 and has worked across the UK and globally. His art formed an integral part of his studies and has since become part of his architectural philosophy.
