Beginnings, dependance, reverence, endurance and expectation. Madonna is about a ‘being’ that transcends time; often a recognisable icon, sometimes an entity, represented and reinvented as cultures develop and change. There seems to be a constant though, where the ‘Madonna’ leads a fundamental human relationship; the one that’s between a mother and a child. It’s complex, probably never a simple one, but without the strength of it, our societies would surely be weaker.
