Wilderness
Like the anonymity offered by the city there is sanctuary in wilderness. Wilderness; a momentary peace, a haven from things left behind; the excitement of a new frontier and the possibilities of the unknown. One of our most human instincts is to explore; Earth, Space, the Moon. The Wilderness work is inspired by memories of open spaces, Dartmoor in the UK, the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland, desert sands of the Middle East, oceans of the South Pacific and flying across Nevada at sunset. There is a type of ‘peace’ in these places of wilderness.
Perhaps one of the real ‘wildernesses’, though, is ‘the zeitgeist of now’ in which the World is becoming once again a place of change and unpredictability. The zeitgeist is about change. The metaverse is an unseen frontier. New climatic forces are impacting our physical environment. World governance is dominating the status quo. The status quo is no longer.
